Semi-Complete Broadcast: ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA—AMC—October 25, 2002
About this film
A presentation of Sergio Leone's Jewish gangster classic from AMC's Movies in the Afternoon block. COMMENT: Even if it was edited for syndication, at least AMC (thankfully) appeared to have shown the European cut of this film. The movie, from what I heard, was horribly butchered when it came out in, well, America, with everything rearranged in chronological order, and several scenes truncated or cut entirely for no reason. The U.S. cut of the film only got one VHS issue, in February 1985, and has not resurfaced since. An extended cut of this film debuted in 2012 and was first issued on home media in 2014.
