About this film

The rules of submarine warfare changed when the first nuclear powered sub named the U.S.S. Nautilus began service in 1954. Prior to the Nautilus, submarines could stay submerged for a limited period of time. With nuclear power, Nautilus demonstrated a sub could stay submerged almost indefinitely. With this new ability, the Nautilus achieved what no submarine could have done before, cross the North Pole. Awards: Official Selection, Greenwich Film Festival Film notes: This documentary marks the beginning of a collaboration between Matt Jenkins and retired submariner Jack Kurrus.
