About this film
A small group of volunteers in Odisha, India collected, scanned and archived more than 10,000 Odia-language book volumes, over 25 dictionaries and many magazine and newspaper publications published in the last 200 years. As collective negligence now adds to hostiligy from the government and successors of authors, will their work move forward? Directed by Subhashish Panigrahi, the 2022 documentary short The Volunteer Archivists revolves around this volunteer group called Srujanika. Their portal Odia Bibhaba (https://odiabibhaba.in) hosts the wealth of knowledge they have managed to archive. MORE: https://theofdn.org/film/tva/
