The Bear Essentials - Home Snowboarding Video, DVD rip
About this film
2006 homemade video featuring my cousin Fred and I as kids. We were snowboarding at and near Bear Mountain Ski Resort in Big Bear Lake, California, United States. Filmed on a mini DV camcorder, with some imagery from Google Earth, and edited in Windows Movie Maker. This was on my first YouTube channel, which has been lost to time. I was pleasantly surprised to find a DVD copy today, September 18th, 2023. I ripped the DVD in 480p, and upscaled it falsely in FFMPEG, just so I could post it on social media. It is on my personal Instagram and Facebook pages for now. Facebook gave me a copyright infringement notice, so that motivated me to back the video up on Internet Archive here. The snowboarding video will be reposted on YouTube tonight, but they may issue a takedown as well. Their copyright enforcement is more draconian now than it was back in 2006. The song that's an issue is MakeDamnSure by the emo band Taking Back Sunday. If the band themselves saw this, they would think it's cute and appreciate that my fandom extended to early outdoors video creation. But these record labels and online distributors get in the way of potential band/fan connections like that. Regardless, I'm glad…
