About this film
LibriVox recording of The Sting by William Le Queux. Read in English by Howard Skyman. The sting by William Le Queux was written in 1928 in the detective mystery genre that is so popular even to this day. The story centres around the complex relationships within the aristocratic Evenden family and their connection to a mysterious and sinister character by the name of Dr. Laidlaw. Step brothers Jack and Frank find themselves in tangled romantic interests that play out in a most interesting way throughout the story. Of course this would not be a true detective mystery without the need to solve at least one suspicious death and it does not disappoint. Wealth, inheritance and even blackmail are thrown into the mix for good measure due to an unresolved event in the family’s past. All this intrigue resolves to a shocking final revelation about the destiny of the Evenden’s to everyone’s genuine surprise. - Summary by Howard Skyman For further information, including links to online text, reader information, RSS feeds, CD cover or other formats (if available), please go to the LibriVox catalog page for this recording.
