Audio125 Foot Horn: Southern Melody
About this film
Thomas Edison came to the idea that sound got confused when it was recorded in a short horn so he designed several long horns. One was forty feet and the largest was a whopping one hundred and twenty five feet long in a special studio that was coated with cow hair to keep it quiet, and that is where this recording was made, in the Columbia Street Studios in West Orange by the pianist Ernest Stevens who was Edison's private pianist and helpful to this writer many years ago in gaining information on his former boss.
