Screen Walk with GTA V Photographer Bot
About this film
In the last event before the summer 2021 break, Screen Walks outsourced its activities to a non-human photographer. GTA V Photographer Bot lead an algorithmic street photography performance in the fictional city of the computer game Grand Theft Auto V. Refusing to engage with the game objective and missions, the bot was programmed to take out its simulated smartphone camera instead of its guns, and snap pics of its environment. Screen Walks is a new series of live-streamed artist/researcher-led explorations of online spaces and artistic strategies designed to illuminate a thriving – often overlooked – digital cultural scene. A new online collaboration between The Photographers’ Gallery , UK and Fotomuseum Winterthur , Switzerland.
