Scarlet Street (1945) is a film noir directed by Fritz Lang, based on the 1931 French film "La Chienne." The story revolves around Christopher Cross , a middle-aged, timid cashier who becomes infatuated with a young woman named Kitty . After crossing paths with Kitty, who is actually a con artist, Christopher unwittingly becomes embroiled in a web of deception. He initially helps support Kitty and her boyfriend Johnny , who sees an opportunity to exploit Christopher's affection for Kitty. When Christopher discovers that their relationship is purely a manipulation, chaos ensues, leading to a series of tragic events.
