The Black Dragon 1974 下南洋 Directed by Tony Lou Chun-Ku Synopsis The New American Superstar Decent, simple, honest Chinese farmhand and ace martial artist Tai-Lin goes to the Philippines to seek his fortune. He befriends scruffy petty street hoodlum Siao-Mao and gets a job as a dock worker. When Tai-Lin discovers that the people he works for are involved in a crime syndicate that specializes in smuggling opium, he quits his job and joins forces with two fellow martial artists against the evil organization. Three brothers return to Hong Kong for a family reunion only to find their father murdered by the Black Dragon Gang. They work with the police to bring down the syndicate by going undercover. Black Dragon was produced by Bobby A. Suarez, who directed They Call Her…Cleopatra Wong five years later. The film starred the late Hong Kong actor Roy Chiao Hung in a supporting role. Originally dubbed and released in English, the film was newly digitised in 2023 from the surviving 35mm original negatives preserved by the AFA.
