In 1889 his prose translations of 466 quatrains of the Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyam was published by David Nutt. An abbreviated edition, containing a shorter introduction and translations of 373 quatrains, was published by David Nutt in 1898, and this has been used for the present recording.
