NewSport Score Box Promo 1996
About this film
Who? What? Yep, 1 year before ESPN News, & their "Bottom Line" sports score ticker, the NewSport sports news channel, featured the innovative “NewSport Score Box”, introduced in 1995, which gave (depending on the time of day) game times & scores in real-time. There was interesting programming, as well, like Chet Coppick's NewSporTalk. (it's a clever double contraction!), along with sports news, & sports business news. On the air from Oct. 1, 1993 until July 9, 1997, NewSport became the second (USA) 24 hour national sports news channel, filling the niche that was vacated by Sports News Network (SNN), in 1990. For a portion of 4 years, the Rainbow Programming Holdings endeavor had, at its’ peak, up to 10 million cable, DirecTV satellite, & over the air TV viewers enjoying the latest sports news & talk at all hours of the day. That is, until “ESPNews” hit the air Nov. 1, 1996, with their "Bottom Line" sports score ticker.
