About this film
The Cylinder Archive [ www.cylinder.de ] release for May 2012: An early performance of John Philip Sousa's popular Liberty Bell March, on a brown wax cylinder from ca. 1895-96 made by the New England Phonograph Co. Baldwin's Band did record a great number of Sousa marches as well as other selections. Their records were also sold by the United States Phonograph Co. The announcement says: "March, The Liberty Bell, played by Baldwin's Cadet Band of Boston", although the announcement is quite faint, the musical performance comes out pretty crisp and clear, especially for such an early selection.
