January 1921. Released in 1922. Label printing date code: BP (= 1921) Notes Performed by an unidentified military band. This could simply be a Columbia studio band (a.k.a. Columbia Band) led by Columbia's musical director, Charles Adams Prince. The "Schützen-Marsch" [= Target Shooters' March] was composed by German-American composer Emil Oslender (1870 Aachen, Germany – 1930 New York, NY, USA). After emigrating to the United States in 1905, Oslender worked as a musical director in New York. He directed the Bronx Männerchor (Bronx Male Choir), among others. Target shooter clubs (Schützenvereine) have a long history in Germany. Many were founded after the Napoleonic Wars in the early 19th century, and almost every village has a Schützenverein and celebrates an annual target shooters festival.
