About this film

This video interview of Sampati, a farmer from Bangseel, Uttarakhand, India and a speaker of the Saunpuri dialect of the Garhwali language, was conducted by Subhashish Panigrahi in November 2019, and was used in the production of 2021 documentary " MarginalizedAadhaar ". In this interview, Sampati speaks about her experience in enrolling and obtaining Aadhaar, the Indian biometric ID. Sampati also shares about her disability, poverty and other practical challenges in the interview. Garhwali is designated as a vulnerable language and most speakers are generally counted as Hindi speakers in most surveys.
