Reels A-H of original camera footage edited for broadcast on KNTV Channel 11 San Jose for August 28, 1969. Includes outtakes and silent footage. Reel 1 (Roll A-B) Segment 1: KNTV Reporter Tom Anderson in Monterey at the Fleet Numerical Weather Center facility, which is the hub of the Navy's global weather reporting system with a payroll of $2 million. It houses the world's third largest environmental computer receiving and distributing weather data to Navy ships and installations around the world. Anderson interviews chief officer Bob Bechtlelmayer (?) about the facility's need for more space and more computing capacity; a committee has been set up to study their needs and might impact the decision about whether to leave Monterey for Corvallis, Oregon. Several outtakes of interviews; giggling. Segment 2: Anderson interviews Monterey mayor Al Madden who sums up the local reaction; they don't want the facility to leave Monterey, and Madden believes an expanded facility will draw the best oceanographers and become the leading center of oceanography study on the West Coast.
