About this film
This film documents projects created by Stanford University students inside Second Life for the freshman course, Introduction to the Humanities 57: The Human and the Machine. The course lecturers were Prof. Michael Shanks and Curator Henry Lowood; the machinima piece here is narrated by Zena Meadowsong and Alice Petty, teaching fellows in the course, and Henrik Bennetsen, manager of the L2 project in the Stanford Humanities Laboratory. This movie was made in Second Life , which was used as a "text" and substantially for student work in the course. It is both a documentary projects completed in the course and a demonstration of the use of Second Life as an instructional resource.
