U. TV
About this film
"U.TV" by Owen O'Toole. Another major interest of Owen's, in addition to radio, was alternative, small-scale, public access TV. Alas, I don't have the letter that probably accompanied the VHS tape that this was on - or, rather, I don't have it with the tape - so I'm not quite sure what was going on. Owen made this in Vancouver in September, 1992, a mere month after he attended AMARC 5 in Mexico. It seems to be a casual documentary about the making of a commercial for U.TV, a TV channel or station that seems to be friendly to community & experimentation. The VHS label says that it's "Commercial Work" so I imagine he was paid for this. At any rate, I get a lovely feel from it, as if the people concerned were probably folks that I'd like & want to support & collaborate with. Apparently, U.TV only existed as such from 1988 to 1997. This is the 11th upload of a projected 13 of movies by Owen O'Toole from the tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE aRCHIVE. - January 2, 2018 note from tENTATIVELY, a cONVENIENCE
