Federal Highway Administration Video VH-559 Ultra-Thin Whitetopping Repair Demonstration A clear, no-nonsense, step-by-step demonstration of the repair of ultra-thin whitetopping (UTW) pavements by panel removal and replacement. The demonstration project, located at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center, began with the construction of a UTW pavement subjected to accelerated load testing. When the testing was over, sections of the pavement were distressed showing corner breaks, transverse and longitudinal cracks, and faulting at transverse and longitudinal joints. The pavement was then repaired by removing distressed panels and replacing the pavement. The repaired sections were then subjected to accelerated load testing. The video begins with a brief explanation of whitetopping procedures and use.
