Stockpile Recovery to Minimize Segregation
About this film
Federal Highway Administration Video VH-468 Stockpile Recovery to Minimize Segregation The quality of the concrete depends on the quality of the aggregate. Aggregates will segregate (the fine, medium, and coarse materials will separate) during transportation and in a stockpile regardless of how the aggregate stockpile is created, by fixed conveyor, radial conveyor, end dumping, or truck built adjacent stockpiles. To avoid sub-standard aggregate, the loader must load from the stockpile and dump into the truck properly. This video demonstrates proper recovery from stockpiles that are cone shaped (stationary conveyor), tent shaped (moving conveyor) and end dumped. The video also demonstrates loader operation using proper bucket technique for picking up from the stock pile and dumping into the truck.
