It explains the engineering and research basis of a decision to install stop, yield, or speed limit signs. The MUTCD is introduced, and studies of traffic speed, volume, sight distance and accident history are briefly explained. Examples are given for residential and rural intersections. Based on FHWA's report Stop, Yield and No Control at Intersections.
