Colorado Department of Transportation Video VH-157 Snow Removal Colorado's snow clearance policies and priorities, safe snowplow operations, and problems with the motoring public are all discussed in this video. Beginning with preparation of the roadside before snow season and converting trucks to snowplows by attachment of blades and sanders, the video demonstrates Colorado's bare roads policy and describes plowing patterns and procedures. A preventive maintenance check is also shown. Much of the video is devoted to the challenges presented by stalled or abandoned vehicles, unsafe conduct by motorists and pedestrians, and traffic jams. The video stresses the need for persistence and constant vigilance.
