About this film
LibriVox recording of Falstaff's Wedding (1766 Version) by William Kenrick. Read in English by LibriVox Volunteers. Falstaff's Wedding (1760 and 1766) is a play by William Kenrick. It is a sequel to Shakespeare's plays Henry IV, Part 2 and The Merry Wives of Windsor. Most of the characters are carried over from the two Shakespeare plays. There are two distinct versions of the play. The first (already recorded by Librivox) was published in 1760, and is a serious play with Falstaff being drawn into a plot to kill Henry V of England. This version was not well received when presented in early 1766, and so a completely revised version, recorded here, was prepared and staged later in 1766 that drops the serious parts and expands the comic elements into a farce. - Summary by ToddHW Cast list: Sir John Falstaff: Jon Hunter Justice Shallow: Adrian Stephens Master Slender: João Senna Mr. Pleadwell, a Lawyer: Winnifred Assmann Dr. Caius: Inkell Friar: Larry Wilson Ancient Pistol: Alan Mapstone Bardolph: Sonali Ekka Corporal Nym: Beeswaxcandle Gadshill: David Purdy Officer: Inkell Francis: Stacey Malcolm Jack Rugby: David Purdy Mercury: ToddHW Dame Ursula, afterwards Lady Falstaff: valroth Bri…
