The Cylinder Archive [ www.cylinder.de ] release for for December 2015: This more unknown Christmas season selection called "Sleighride" is performed by Frank S. Mazziotta, who was an active piccolo solo artist. He made several recordings for Edison as well as others such as Victor, but appears to vanish after 1904. His recordings are not as widely known as those of George Schweinfest, who was also a pioneer recording artist the 1890s. This particular recording appears to be from around 1897-98, especially as the announcement does not mention the Edison brand at all, which for brown wax was only the case around that time. One can clearly hear the distinctive dubbing artifacts, caused either by a badly adjusted pantograph or possibly by dubbing an already dubbed cylinder.
