Cobra Verde is a 1987 German drama film directed by Werner Herzog and starring Klaus Kinski, in their fifth and final collaboration. It is a film about Francisco Manoel da Silva, a Brazilian bandit who, after impregnating the daughters of a plantation owner, is sent to West Africa to reopen the slave trade. In Dahomey, he negotiates with the local king, ultimately leading a rebellion and becoming embroiled in the complexities of the slave trade and colonialism.
