Candice Bergen Sprint Long Distance Landline Calling Telephone Service Ad 1992
About this film
It's "The Dime Lady", Candice Bergen! For a few years, in the 1990s, she was the spokesperson for what was, at that time, a landline telephone long distance provider. In the late 1990s, Sprint would become a mobile [cellphone] service provider, dropping the landline portion. At the end of this spot, Candice, on behalf of her TV sitcom character, Murphy Brown being pregnant and happily single, makes a subtle dig at then US Vice President, Dan Quayle. During a speech he opined, without thinking about different circumstances, that all single women should be married before having a child, in the interest of family stability.
