About this film

"Campaign For Full Citizenship" is a student film produced in 1991. It shows the efforts of disability rights activists to change the state of Georgia's policies that segregated people with disabilities from the rest of society in state institutions. It also shows people with disabilities in Athens, Georgia living with support in their communities and advocating for "full citizenship." The film was screened in 1991 at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY and IMAGE Film/Video Center in Atlanta, GA. In October 2015 a digital version of "Campaign For Full Citizenship" was produced. Moving Image Research Collections at the University of South Carolina scanned the edited work print; the 16mm magnetic sound mix was converted at Crawford Post in Atlanta. The version posted here was screened publicly on October 23, 2015 at the Russell Library's Georgia Disability History Symposium: Stories of Advocacy and Action at the University of Georgia. This digital copy remains in their collection; the original film elements are in the care of Moving Image Research Collections at USC in Columbia, SC. After many requests for access to the digital copy, I've made it available here. Users can stream or download…
