About this film

LibriVox recording of Big Lake, A Tragedy in Two Parts by Lynn Riggs. Read in English by LibriVox Volunteers. Betty senses darkness and decay in the world around her, but not in Lloyd. Though he doesn't understand the source and depth of her feelings, Lloyd cares for Betty and hopes to protect and nurture her. Together, this young couple just might find a path to a rosy future, if the world outside will allow for that. The story is set in what is now Oklahoma but was then (1906) referred to as "Indian Territory". Another play, "Green Grow the Lilacs", also by Lynn Riggs, was the basis for "Oklahoma!" by Rodgers and Hammerstein. - Summary by Brian Fullen For further information, including links to online text, reader information, RSS feeds, CD cover or other formats (if available), please go to the LibriVox catalog page for this recording.
