This week, New Mexico in Focus spotlights a special interview with several key players in a documentary called “The Providers.” Next week, the film will be featured on the PBS series “Independent Lens.” “The Providers” focuses on the challenge of treating addiction in rural New Mexico. Correspondent Megan Kamerick sits down with both the filmmakers and two of the featured rural healthcare practitioners to talk about the film...and the problem at its core. “The Providers” airs Monday, April 8 at 9:00 pm and Saturday, April 13 at 10:00 pm on NMPBS 5.1. Host Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists discuss the push by House Republicans to repeal a gun law through a rarely used referendum process. They also examine the new law increasing New Mexico’s minimum wage for the first time in ten years and look at the state’s opioid crisis in light of recent lawsuits and newly approved treatments.
