About this film

Jaime Ongpin was the former Minister of Finance under President Cory Aquino, and prior to that was a businessman operating in the mining industry. Ongpin recounts his emotional reactions to Marcos' regime, stating that he was always skeptical of the Philippine dictator. Although Philippine martial law provided temporary improvements to the Philippines, Ongpin explains that this was due to reckless borrowing that put the country in national debt. Ultimately, Ongpin cites Benigno Aquino's assassination as a breaking point in people's willingness to tolerate martial law. In forming the Convener Group alongside Cory Aquino and Lorenzo Tañada, he would play a direct role in selecting Cory Aquino as president after Marcos.
