The 2013 legislative session is finally and literally in the books. The deadline for the governor to sign or veto bills has passed. This week, the Line opinion panel dissects the session’s two biggest bills – the budget and the capital outlay bill. The group will also look at notable vetoes and signatures by the governor. Albuquerque Public Schools may soon chart its own course for teacher evaluations. The move would fly in the face of the state Public Education Department and comes amid a nationwide debate about how best to measure the effectiveness of educators. Then, the panel explores the coming battles over gun rights legislation and immigration policies at the national level.
