During the week of August 16, 1964, "Of People and Politics #10: How to Win" projected in a panel discussion certain presidential campaign strategy questions and concluded that President Lyndon B. Johnson maintained a comfortable lead over his Republican opponent, US Senator Barry Goldwater. This episode brings together an outstanding newspaper columnist, a noted political scientist, and an eminent economist, who discuss the presidential campaign in view of campaign developments since August. In particular, the panelists survey what the issues are in this 1964 campaign; how the public relates to the issues; what effect, if any, the issues have on the strength of the presidential contenders in different sections of the country; and the current strength of President Johnson and Senator Goldwater. The panelists include the following people. Milton Friedman, chief economic adviser to US Senator Barry Goldwater in the 1964 presidential election campaign.
