About this film

This must be largely the story of the rise of totalitarianism in the interwar world, with a recognition to the failure of the democracies to maintain vitality and to come up with an efficient answer to world problems. Americans, while recognizing the basic opposition of Fascism and Nazism to democratic ideology, were not always aware that Communism was even more dangerous. As conditions and situations grew worse in Europe, Americans watched with growing anxiety. (Description adapted from documents in the NET Microfiche)
