The hour long documentary explores the forces beneath the surface in the other war in Southeast Asia the war for the minds and hearts of men. Filmed entirely on location, the program details for the first time how the people in Southeast Asia feel about the war being waged around them. Southeast Asia: The other War focuses on South Vietnam, the scene of the current military campaign against the Communist Viet Cong, and Thailand, a strong ally of the West already pinpointed by Red China as the next prime target for aggression. Through the use of narration, documentary film footage, and interviews with knowledgeable spokesmen, the program begins with an integrated report on the prevailing mood of the South Vietnamese, a people frustrated and disillusioned by their twenty-five year long fight for freedom. Those interviewed include: Denis Warner, an Australian journalist with twenty years of first-hand experience in Southeast Asia.
