About this film

In his concluding discussion in this 5-part series, Dr. Adler deals with the significance of a liberal education in relation to labor and leisure. He points out that the most prevalent of all human ills are these two: (1) a mans discontent with the work he does and (2) the necessity of having to kill time. Both of these can be, in part, cured by liberal education, he says. Liberal schooling prepares for a life of learning and for the leisure activities of a whole lifetime. Adult liberal education is an indispensable part of the life of leisure, which is a life of learning, according to Dr. Adler. (Description adapted from documents in the NET Microfiche)
