In an interview, Dr. Dorothy Height discusses her childhood and early education during the Great Depression, and what led her to change her vocational studies from medicine to social work. She also talks about being involved in the United Christian Youth Movement and the Civil Rights Movement, working alongside such luminaries as Martin Luther King, Jr., Whitney Young, and Roy Wilkins. She talks about what leadership means to her, that it is a response to need and not a status and that everyone always comes across opportunities to lead. She also talks about the challenges she faced as a woman in leadership position.
