FIRST TAPED SEGMENT: This month, the University of California released preliminary findings of a study that linked some childhood cancers to exposure to electromagnetic fields. The fields are produced by household appliances like electric hair dryers and black and white TV's. And in December, the environmental protection agency released a similar report; theirs linked childhood cancers to high-volt power lines and household appliances. Scientists have reported such findings for several years, but this is the first time the Federal government has made the link. The announcement may accelerate a growing citizen movement around the country, a movement utilities say will retard economic development. Lee Hochberg reports.FIRST INTERVIEW: Sixth District Representative Norm Dicks was in Saudi Arabia earlier this week for a congressional briefing.
