Dr. Neihardt Introduction
About this film
This is a brief interview conducted by Ron Hull with Dr. John Neihardt. This informal conversation was designed to introduce the Dick Cavett/John Neihardt interview, which was first broadcast on Nebraska Educational Television (NETV). Dick Cavett generously provided a copy of the ABC program to NETV, granting permission for it to be broadcast in perpetuity. The interview was recorded in July 1972. In it, Dr. Neihardt reflects on how he first met Dick Cavett, the circumstances that led to the taping in Omaha, and his thoughts on television. He also reminisces about his early experiences with the medium, including teaching his course, The Twilight of the Sioux, via television at the University of Missouri in the 1960s.
