"On June 10, 1987 WSKG-TV received a grant from The United States Environmental Protection Agency for a Small Quantity Generator Training Project which would provide information to effected small businesses and the general public about the 1984 [amendments] to The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. These new laws came into full force in March, 1986. "While many large businesses have staffs of experts trained to deal with hazardous waste regulations, small businesses with little or no resources are often left to fend for themselves when it comes to hazardous waste regulations. OUT OF THE BACK ROOM provided a useful service to those small businesses that are faced with the problem of understanding and abiding by these new regulations. By combining the most current information from the regulatory agencies with the experiences of other small business owners, OUT OF THE BACK ROOM presents a documentary view of how these new and far reaching laws effect those they touch in the small business community.
