About this film
"Recent national studies show that American students in grades kindergarten through 12 are lagging behind in science education. Outlining the problem and what can be done to upgrade the quality of science education in our schools are the focus of this special. "The one-hour special provides insight into recent national studies of science education programs and makes recommendations about what teachers, parents, and students and concerned people can do to help enhance the awareness of science. The program will show the range of science education programs in this area and several of the people responsible for those programs will be on hand to discuss them. "Dr. Robert Ballard, Senior Scientist and head of the Deep Submergence Laboratory at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and discoverer of the location of the Titanic, will co-host the special with Susan Cosgrove, producer.
