About this film

This is a new version of the film "White Zombie" available in the film section of the Prelinger Archive. The snd has been cleaned up, made stereo and enhanced. At intervals in the film fx filters are applied to add color and graphic effects. =================== This started off as a simple project to clean up the audio on the Prelinger Archives version of the classic film White zombie. As I was doing that I thought, "Why not invent a new art form?" Photography came along in the mid 19th century, motion pictures in the 1890's, sound in the 1930's, color in the 1950's with the result being that painting became a lost art- but something was lost and that is the interpetive element in the image. So, taking a clue from King Tubby in Jamacia I thought "why not remix the video of already made films the way dubmasters do the audio to reggae tunes?" I have a great deal of respect for this film so I didn't mess with the linear aspects, only the sound and video. The actual effects went quick but then interlacing, dropped frames and Codecs and the rest came into play and that was a lot of time and work, requiring many renderings but having learned about them once I've about got them down now.…
