CAIRO: Riots protested Lumumba's death. CUBA: A Communist regime strengthened it position 90 miles from the U.S.A. CONGO: Warfare still split this newly-created nation. LAOS & SOUTH VIETNAM: Here, again, War continued to plague both countries. ALGERIA: Brother is pitted against Brother in this French possession. UNITED STATES: John Fitzgerald Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th President. SPACE: The Russians claimed to have successfully orbited a man, while the U.S. put both Commander Shepard and Captain Grissom in sub-orbital flight. BERLIN: The line of demarcation between East West is drawn in Berlin where the Communists throw up their Wall of Hate. It is here where the fate of the world may be decided."
