National Archives description: "MS Looking NE in a window in the N side of building 59, Higashi Police Station, showing the effect of blast 1/8" roll-type steel shutters. Their entire frames were forced by blast into the interior of the building. This is the only incident observed in which the interior of a modern building was not destroyed by fire. This building is located approx. 4050 feet from zero at 89 degrees. MCU Showing the distorted roll-type shutter, displaced window frame and the flash burned area of the shutter. The shutters which were closed at the time of bombing absorbed impact of the blast with the result that the "chicken" wire glass cracked but did not shatter. The point inside of the steel shutters blistered (large bubbles 1/2" in diameter) as result of the heat transmitted through the steel. MLS Establishing shot.
