About this film
Action-packed, cult favorite crime drama starring Robert Mitchum as an anti-hero moonrunner (moonshiner). Mitchum also wrote the original story. CAST NOTE: The feature film debuts of Jerry Hardin and Peter Beck PRODUCTON NOTE: The cars in this film had actually been used by North Carolina moonrunners. Director Arthur Ripley's last film. TRIVIA: Moonrunning led to dirt track modified stock car racing, which was the birth of NASCAR. In the "Cheers" episode "And Coachie Makes Three," Sam, Coach and Diane watch "Thunder Road" on TV.
