The Vampira Show - rare 1954 television clips
About this film
As the ghoulish and campy Vampira, pin-up model Maila Nurmi was television's first horror hostess in 1954-55. No film of her shows exist except for a rare promotional kinescope re-creating her famous entrance and some of her macabre comedy segments. Here are two brief bits also seen in the 2006 documentary "Vampira: The Movie". In the second bit there is a slight glitch during her punchline: 'Everyone knows electricity is for chairs." She went on to do small roles in a few B pictures including Ed Wood's notorious schlock classic "Plan 9 from Outer Space".
