Burt Lancaster leads a worthy international cast in this action drama of the French resistance in World War 2. Loosely based on a real event. Excellent production values. Filmed on location in France. Directed by John Frankenheimer (& Arthur Penn uncredited) PRODUCTION NOTE: This film's realism and sense of authenticity resulted from no special effects being used. Some action sequences were covered by as many as seven cameras. Lancaster did all of his own stunts.
