Space Station's Fourth Crew Member "Flexes" His Muscles Aboard the International Space Station, the dexterous humanoid robot called Robonaut was tested in earnest on Oct. 13, 2011, as Expedition 29 Commander Mike Fossum monitored the first ground-commanded movements of its arms and the initial testing of its vision system. Robonaut, which was delivered to the station on space shuttle Discovery's STS-133 mission earlier this year, is expected to be used in the future to conduct a variety of tasks to test its ability to conduct robotic work in assisting the station crew members.
