SOFIA Mirror Coating at Ames Research Center
About this film
The mirror for SOFIA (Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy) is coated at Ames Research Center. It will be re-installed in the Boeing 747SP aircraft that will carry it above most of the moisture in the Earth's atmosphere to observe infrared light coming from astronomical objects.
