(14 Episodes) OTR Correll & Gosden (aka Sam 'n Henry) (aka Amos & Andy) SAM 'N' HENRY, and later AMOS 'N' ANDY, was the start of radio serials. It wasn't uncommon for real talent to leave a program and start a new show under a new name, leaving the station with the former program in name only. This happened often, and it happened with one of the earliest, most popular and longest running radio programs, one that hit the air in 1926. Charles Correll & Freeman Gosden had been working together since 1920 when they hit upon a great radio idea. Their first broadcast of "Sam 'n' Henry" was on Jan 12, 1926 at WGN Radio in Chicago. A short period past 2 years later, just as Correll & Gosden were set to go national with "Sam 'n' Henry," the the radio station that owned the "Sam 'n' Henry" name, refused to allow C&G to use the name. Correll & Gosden solved the problem by leaving the afore-mentioned station & gave their fellas new names. "Amos 'n' Andy" debuted on Chicago's WMAQ radio in Chicago on Mar 19, 1928 and Correll & Gosden never looked back! WMAQ was to become the Chicago outlet for CBS.
