Rousing WW2 actioner in which an obsessed US submarine comander (Gable) is at war with the Japanese and his executive officer (Lancaster). A strong cast in an outstanding production that mixes real naval footage with convincing simulations. TRIVIA: US Navy personnel trained and drilled the cast to insure their actions would appear authentic.
