About this film
U.S. Army Air Forces silent Combat Subjects film #4554 There's no description at the National Archives but this looks to be filmed at the same time as " First Army Nurses Land In Japan " (which has sound). MacArthur's notes Volume 1 says "The first US ship to enter Yokohama was the USAHS Marigold, carrying the 42nd General Hospital. (Med Hist of 42d Gen Hosp, Ann Rpt of Activ for 1945, gives this date as 30 August 1945; however, Occupational Monogr of the Eighth US Army in Japan, Vol. I, Aug 45-Jan 46, gives the date as 31 August.)" so I'm using the 31 Aug date. Clapperboard says 1 Sept. The 42nd General Hospital was affiliated with the University of Maryland Schools of Medicine and Nursing.... National Archives Identifier: 5546 As always, any error or typo is mine and if you enjoy my uploads or if you intend to make $ or otherwise profit from these files, please consider making a donation to a veteran's charity of your choice and/or Archive.org itself. Thanks. :)
